MAKE EXTRA MONEY WITH REMOTE DATA ENTRY AND TRANSCRIPTION WORK
July 5, 2021 / by Marco / Categories : BusinessIn recent years the job market has shifted more and more towards a gig economy, meaning workers – either by choice or by necessity – are working job to job or project to project. This comes with certain disadvantages, of course, such as a lack of job security. But on the other hand, gig workers have more flexibility. They can choose to work when they want to and on what projects they want to work on.
What Kind of Work Is It?
Remote data entry consists largely of updating company databases and/or verifying the accuracy of data. This could include anything from market research to economic statistics and patient outcome results. A lot of the data is collected using AI and needs to be verified by human eyes.
There are a number of data entry jobs that consist of reviewing the transcripts of AI chats and collecting errors so that the developers can make the necessary improvements to the software.
Additionally, AI is being used to transcribe speeches and conversations, and these transcripts need to checked by human eyes and any errors need to be gathered so the software developers can work out the bugs.
What Qualifications Do You Need?
For most data entry jobs, there aren’t specific academic requirements or previous work experience needed. Depending on the nature of the project, you may need to prove proficiency in the target language.
Due to the potentially sensitive nature of some of the data being worked with, it is common for agencies to conduct background checks on the workers they assign to the project. A criminal record may significantly limit your options as to the types of and the amount of remote data entry jobs you can get.
How Much Can You Expect to Make?
The compensation varies from platform to platform and from project to project. However, there are some industry standards.
- Hourly rates range from $5 to $20
- Per word for typing projects range from $.004 to $.006
- Per audio minute for transcription projects range from $.60 to $.80
Given the repetitive nature of the tasks, it would be difficult to work on any one project for more than 4 hours a day. But if you did 2 projects a day – averaging 3 – 4 hours per project, after a full 5-day work week, you could expect to earn somewhere between $400 and $600.
