THE EXPERT
When Jason Zook dove into the world of entrepreneurship and working for himself, he focused on service-based companies. While they did well for him, they always included the exchange of time for money. This business model is incredibly hard to scale and left him working long hours.
In 2012 he created his first product (an online course) and sold it. It was $99 and had six purchases. He had no idea what he was doing, but discovered that he really enjoyed the process. But what really got him excited was the fact that he could reuse, repackage, and sell the product in multiple ways (generating over $20,000 that year).
He has parlayed my experience building service-based products and his first product in 2012 into quite a few other products over the years. Like Nathan and Paul, he has released products that have done well and have honed a repeatable process for promoting every product he releases.
Paul Jarvis created his first web product in the 90’s and it directly led to his first job as a designer (after which he sold the product for a big profit). He had no resume, no previous work experience, nothing but the success from launching.
Since then he has released many products, mostly books and courses – some have failed and some have been successes. He has sold 100,000 books and made over $400,000 selling courses. He has learned that while nothing is set in stone and no one owns a crystal ball to tell the future, there are definitely specific steps and processes you can use to move your product towards doing well.
When Nathan Barry launched his first book it made $12,500 in the first 24 hours. But that wasn’t his first product, it was his 10th. The previous nine products made a little money, but were not big successes. But those first products were where he developed the foundation for building successful products.
Now, years later, he knows exactly how to build and launch products, and see it as a consistent, repeatable process.
